The Reading Teacher's Plan Book

As many of you know, I have given the district the PDF of my book which they can copy for employees of the district. I don't make any money off the books that are sold via the district printing services (and neither do they -- it's just the cost of printing, which is $16.50 in case you wanted to know), but I am hoping that I might get some PR. (I have finally ordered my first shipment of books which I will try to sell on my website, which will soon be hooked up with paypal.)

I keep getting e-mails from people who have ordered the book from the district. In the last 2 1/2 weeks the district has sent out more than 30 copies, which I think is kind of cool. Mom thought some of you might be interested in reading the responses I have been receiving about my program, so I've posted some of them below. The program is a 1st grade program. I have developed a 2nd grade program which I had not intended to share yet because it is not in the same completed state as the 1st grade program. However, after some of these e-mails, I decided to be nice and send what I have.

Wow! what a lot of work you have put into this program. Thank you for sending me your second grade stuff. I will cherish it. We are already using the first grade stuff to varying degrees. I would say I owe you my first born, but I've already given him to LSU.

Thank you so much for putting this wonderful program together. I have copied the first 5 weeks of materials and am here now at the school (on Saturday) to cut, laminate, label and bag. I am psyched!

Hi Marjorie ! thanks for all your good materials. But I have a question. We got our plan book from the district, but it looks like it is only the 1st grade lesson materials. Is there another book for the 2nd? I am looking to get the plan book materials so I can get ahead on running the activities and laminating, etc. them. I called the priinting and they said that that was all they had. THANKS!

Hey there,I got the plan book and am absolutely loving it. I can't thank you enough for how helpful it is!!!!!

Marjorie,Thank you so much for sharing your Reading Teacher Lesson Plans. I shared it with first grade teachers to help get them started on guided reading. When it's coupled with the Houghton Mifflin Benchmark Assessment tool and our guided reading library, it's a smashing success! I have been using the lessons myself with first graders (I'm doing a push-in in two classes) and it really is wonderful. And it was just what a couple of teachers needed to get going on guided reading. Have you written a second grade and/or kindergarten version, or at least a framework? I can see how the format can be adapted for the other grade levels, but if they're already written, I would love a copy.
