Chocolate Life

I was amazed that the name of my new favorite breakfast cereal could lead me to think deep thoughts this morning! I think if I were ever to start another blog, I would appropriately call it My Chocolate Life. This could refer to my unhealthy addiction where I pretty much dose myself with Vitamin "C" every couple hours (the results of giving up Diet Coke). But I was thinking more in the terms that I think life is pretty sweet!

These are just a few of the things I am enjoying in life right now:

3 months summer vacation (I did spend about 6 hours at the school this week, but that is different from working 8-4 every day.)

John's new job (which means he no longer works holidays, weekends, or late nights)

Time with the kids (It's nice to have more time to hang out and less time running around in the car or worrying about homework; it's also nice to have Stephanie home again for the summer.)

Date night (Last night John and I went out to eat and went to see Iron Man, which was pretty cool.)

My flowers (I'll have to send a picture of the flowers in my front yard 'cause I think they're very pretty. Every time I walk past them I always say, "I love my flowers." Just ask the kids.)

Walking in the mornings

The pool

Playing the piano in Primary (I'll have to admit, when I went up to Girls' Camp to do FHE on their first night there, I realized how much I miss the girls. However, I'm OK with taking a rest from all the weekly activities, meetings, etc. At some point, I worry I might get a little stir crazy with just sitting behind a piano for 2 hours each Sunday, but I haven't reached that point yet.)

Lulu.com (This probably won't excite anyone else, but this is a publishing website I have discovered, and I now have a way to publish "The Reading Teacher's Plan Book," which is my reading program that is being implemented in several new schools next year. I have spent the last three days getting the PDF file ready to upload to this site. I think the services this site offers are pretty cool, but maybe you just have to like that kind of thing.)

I could go on, and I could also list things which are coming up next month (going to Cherry Hill next Tuesday for Stephanie's birthday, Amanda's birthday, our vacation to Leavenworth, WA in a few weeks, . . . ) I could also list my "Diversity in Education" class I am taking at Weber next month, but I'm not sure that counts as something I'm particularly excited about. I have to read a book called "Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?" and Other Conversations about Race before the class begins, which means I have to have it read by the end of next week. We'll see if it's one I would recommend for all of you on Good Reads.
